Abomasal nematodes of ruminants: | Order: Strongylida (strongyles) | Superfamily: Trichostrongyloidea | Family: Trichostrongylidae
Male (length: 1-2 cm). Shorter and thinner than females. Well-developed bursa with asymmetric dorsal lobe. Slender spicules with barbs at the distal end.
Female (length: 2-3 cm). Vulva opening covered by a conspicuous vulval flap.
 
       
Hosts: Sheep, goats (mainly in the tropics), cattle (tropics only).
Location: Abomasum.
