Specific morphology: Very large and stout adults (length: 3.5-6 mm) with very strong legs and claws.

Hosts: Pigs (the only species of lice on swine). |

General morphology of sucking lice: Wingless, dorso-ventrally flattened insects.
Head: Relatively narrow, pointed front with thin sucking mouthparts, long lateral antennae.
Thorax: Strong legs, large claws for grasping.
Abdominal segments: Black when blood-filled, wider than thorax, lateral spiracles with brown plates.
