Specific morphology: : Adult specimen (length: 1.5-2.5 mm).
Head: Small, triangular and short with a strongly convex ‘forehead’. Genal ctenidia are not equally long, the first spine being clearly shorter than the following ones. |

Intermediate host for Dipylidium caninum and Dipetalonema reconditum. |

General morphology of adult fleas: Wingless, laterally compressed insects, 1.5-3 mm long.
Head: Small, triangular with thin biting-sucking mouthparts, with/without genal ctenidia, and with club-shaped antennae visible in grooves posterior to the eye spots.
Thorax: Small, with strong legs and with/without pronotal cteni-dia on the first segement.
Abdomen: Large segments, each with a central spiracle and dorsal row of bristles.
