Cheyletiella parasitivorax from rabbit.
Hosts: Dogs (C. yasguri), cats (C. blakei), rabbits (C. parasitivorax).
Location: The surface of the skin.
Causes rash and scaly dermatitis. Man may be an erratic host (close pet contact).
General morphology of Cheyletiella: Length up to 0.4 mm. Noticeable ‘waist’. Enlarged palps with claws. 4 pairs of legs terminate in ‘combs’. Two setae near the terminal anus, and two between the second and third pair of legs on each side. Elongated mouthparts.
