Indole Test
This test is used to determine whether an organism can split indole from tryptophan. After incubation in tryptophan or peptone broth, Kovac's reagent is added.

1. Uninoculated medium.

2. Positive reaction: Escherichia coli.

3. Negative reaction: Salmonella.
