Candida albicans Candida albicans
Colonies are white to cream in colour and are approximately 4 mm. in diameter.
 
Nigrosin preparation. Oval to elongated cells. Reproduction occurs by multipolar budding with narrow base. Pseudohyphae are not present in this preparation.
The genus Candida contains a collection of anamorphic yeasts. The cells can undergo three different morphogenetic processes, namely blastospore formation, pseudohyphal formation, and hyphal formation.
