Listeria seeligeri
Listeria seeligeri Listeria seeligeri
Pinpoint to small, semi-transparent colonies.

The same Blood Agar plate examined with transmitted light. The colonies are surrounded by a very narrow haemolytic zone. This is not an example of 'greening' since L. seeligeri is catalase-positive. L. seeligeri is not proteolytic nor lipolytic.
General characteristics: Gram-positive rods. Catalase-positive. Attacks sugars fermentatively. Motile with characteristic slow, tumbling and rotary movements.
