Correct name: Fusobacterium necrophorum subsp. funduliforme.

This culture has been grown anaerobically on Viande-Levure medium with 5% blood for 48 hours. The colonies are small, almost cone-shaped, yellowish and have a matt surface.
The same medium examined with transmitted light. There is a narrow beta-haemolytic zone under the colonies, this can only be seen if one of the colonies is removed from the agar.
 
  
 
General characteristics: Gram-negative rods. Catalase- and oxidase-negative. Attacks sugars fermentatively. Obligately anaerobic. Non-motile.
