Enterococcus Agar according to Slanetz and Bartley (Enterococcus Agar)
Enterococcus Agar
Enterococcus faecalis

This agar is used for detection and enumeration of enterococci. Sodium azide in the medium inhibits growth of aerobic bacteria (particularly the Gram-negatives). Enterococci produce red colonies on this agar because they reduce tetrazolium chloride to formazan.
