Bacillus megaterium
Bacillus megaterium
Small to medium-sized, convex colonies. The size and colour of colonies varies, even within a pure culture. This is a phenomenon which is typical of Bacillus.

 
 
General characteristics: Gram-positive, spore-forming rods with a diameter > 0.9 µm. In young cultures the cells may contain granula, particularly if the culture has been grown on a medium containing glucose. Catalase-positive. Usually motile.
