Small, white colonies.
 
 
 
The same Blood Agar plate examined with transmitted light. There is no haemolysis around these colonies, however a beta-haemolytic zone may appear around some strains after incubation for 48-72 hours.
General characteristics: Gram-positive, small, pleomorphic rods. Catalase-positive and oxidase-negative. Attacks sugars fermentatively. Non-motile.
