Relatively large and mucoid colonies. Initially the colonies are greyish but after further incubation may appear slightly salmon in colour. |

General characteristics: Gram-positive cells with a pronounced rod-coccus cycle. Cells in early exponential phase are rod-shaped and cells in stationary phase are coccoid. Catalase-positive. Does not attack sugars. Obligate aerobes. Non-motile. |
