Paenibacillus macerans
Small semi-transparent, grey colonies. Paenibacillus means bacillus-like.

 
General characteristics: Gram-positive, gram-variable or gram-negative spore-forming large rods with a diameter < 0.9 µm. Catalase-positive. Attacks sugars by fermentation and gas is produced although not in as great quantities as for Clostridia species. Motile.
